Why do we always skip the manual?

“Oh! Why do we always not look at instructions? Why don’t men ever stop to ask for directions?”

Heh…Was trying to figure out how to make the Friendster blog work. Had it up a couple of months ago, but when I finally mustered the courage to put up my first posting…I hit a bump in the road, in the form of not knowing how on earth to post on my own blog. My first assumption was, all I had to do was somehow to find some colorful boldly-worded “Add post” button or link.

True enough, I found it, but when I pressed on it, nothing happen. “Oh”, I thought, “must be my web browser lagging”, so I hit it again – and still nothing. “Oh my, now it’s getting quite annoying”, crossing my fingers, I hit the darn button again - and yet still nothing. “Okaay…”the rational ‘me’ is slowly being overtaken by the exasperated ‘me’ and I started hitting the button repeatedly till anyone who walked past my room would assume I was playing Doom3 and fragging opponents left and right as if my very life depended on the score…and yeah! You guessed it – Nothing happened.

Which lead me to start fumbling around with setting controls, configurations and finally after ‘getting intimate’ with all the various intricate blog functions, I realized that I had gotten myself lost in all it’s apparent complexities (though the notion would be proven wrong later on, when I realized that I missed or rather skipped a couple of important steps during the blog creation and regeneration). In vexation, I even tried deleting the entire blog account and recreating it, but not before asking around in internet messenger and irc chat regarding a walkaround.

So technically, this is my second blog, and the irony is I haven’t even started posting. It was then, that I realized I should give the FAQ a read. Lo and behold! And was the saying goes “the rest is history”.
