Dr M barred from Jerusalem
RAMALLAH (West Bank): Israel banned former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, whose comments had in the past infuriated Jews, from entering Jerusalem on Monday while visiting the West Bank.
Dr Mahathir was delayed for an hour at the Allenby crossing from Jordan into the West Bank, where Israeli officials banned him from going to Jerusalem or the city of Jenin in the West Bank, said Palestinian prime minister Ahmed Qorei.
“I want to say to the entire world that this is the political mind of the occupation,” Qorei told a joint news conference with Dr Mahathir in the West Bank city of Ramallah. – AFP
What the hell? They have the audacity of criticizing Israel for banning our Good Doctor from entering Jerusalem? Well for one thing, Malaysia has been banning the entry of Jews into the country since I can remember. Even recall my colleague mentioning over lunch on how he had witness a former colleague, an expat and a Jew who was living and working in Malaysia for 7 years, being deported (almost in cuffs) when the policy was first introduced. When was this policy introduced? Well for one thing I’m still trying to find the answers with google without avail but as far as I can remember it was put in place since the 1980s. Anyhow If our foreign policy doesn’t do give us brownie points, our Good Doctor has been very vocal about his anti-Semitic stances, much to the irking of the West.
