Big No No to bad news in the press

Since the last hoo-raah about the LRT advertisement, our MPs, Menteris and Mentreri Besars has done it once again. With their impeccable form of logic they decided to bring up, for the umpteenth time, a totally ridiculous notion that the mass media tone down their reports of so called ‘bad news’. While I understand and totally agree with them that our mass media are too capitalistic in their stance, that only ‘sensational’ news sells, the logic behind such a disparaging remark by members of the Dewan Rakyat simply eludes me. Certain members of the Dewan, in my personal opinion, as mech88 puts it, is in serious need for remedial instructions on logic.

Now waiting for the time for some ‘entrepreneur’ to come up with the idea of logic classes to reap benefits, like the still silly excuse of compulsory corporate governance training for all CEOs, directors , et cetera should attend to qualify for holding such post on companies. (but alas that is not the source of my annoyance right now – so for another time).

Taking the liberty to demonstrate my point, maybe these are some of the more politically correct reporting style and headlines that would be appearing in the national papers soon after:

Nilai: Manufacturing facility Supervisor was put into a permanent state of metabolic dormancy and relieved of his clothes by socially misaligned individuals who are unlawfully inclined” - Robbers kill and strip factory supervisor

Muar: A 20-year-old pre-woman, who went out for supper with her intimate friend of the opposite gender, ended up being convinced to having involuntary sexual intercourse him and two other youths on Saturday night. - Supper date ends up in gang rape

Petaling Jaya: In an spontaneous decision to adopt the vow of poverty, a domestic engineer donates her handbag and belonging worth RM5,000 to a youth on a noisy motorcycle. Unfortunately during the handover, she received various lacerations due to the excitement of the youth in obtaining such valuables. – Housewife sustains injuries during snatch thief incident.

And for all this, their so-called ‘contribution’ want a pay increase of what? 10%??!!
